Choosing the correct lighting for your home is one of the easiest ways to manipulate your overall atmosphere, so don’t be afraid to try something new…

1) Industrial Minimalism

When we think of industrial we often think of concrete floors and all things cold! Today’s industrial style is anything but cold or harsh.

Those who love a modern appearance with clean lines will especially be drawn to an industrial minimalism look.

To achieve this look you need to keep your choice un-fussy and functional in appearance. Add exposed bulbs with visible filaments for a feeling that is especially industrial, like this black and copper cluster pendant shown above.

2) The Bigger the Better

With ceilings gaining much greater importance in the design world, ceiling lights are also becoming that much more important. 2020’s trend will see larger scaled lighting pieces making a vocal point in interior spaces with a minimalist appearance.

This look has also found it’s way into kitchen designs with over-sized lights being used above work areas or dining tables that are placed in an open plan fashion within the kitchen.

3) Sculptural Shapes

Brass and copper lighting mixes especially well with vintage furniture or can add a hint of old world edge when mixed confidently with a modern setting.

5) Cleaner Lines

Light fittings with clean lines is becoming increasingly popular and you can easily make this modern look work in any space, whether it is the living area, kitchen or bedroom.

It works best as a statement piece, especially when used overhead, creating a simple yet bold look.

6) Clear Pendants

Clear pendants are a clever mixture of industrial design with a rustic feel and come in many shapes and sizes.

With this look it is advised to let the light fitting stand on its own without being crowded by other fixtures. For those that want to increase the industrial feel you are recommended to use Edison style bulbs.
